2. O.Noir, Toronto, Canada
This is yet another weird restaurant. Unlike most restaurants that offer you food in the light, this offers in the darkness. O.Noir’s philosophy is that a diner enjoys his meal, even more, when his sight is absent. Thus, making other senses more active. Even though dining in the dark has been around for quite some time abroad, it was new to Canada. This concept was first introduced in 2006 when the restaurant was opened and then introduced in Toronto in 2009.
The evening then starts in a lit bar. This is where the guests place their order and are then led by a server into the unlit dining room. At this time, they prohibit gadgets that can show light. Thus, you are entering without your phones, luminous watches or anything else that emits light.
